This guide was created out of a multi-department effort of the Beta Star team. Representatives from the assembly, controls engineering, and technical service teams provided insights and suggestions in hope of limiting downtime for sterilization equipment of all makes and models.

Spotting sterilization maintenance issues before they become a downtime event is critical for vivarium and research facilities. For many facilities, the lack of sterilization redundancy means that a down autoclave represents a significant financial loss in research stoppage, and significant costs for the additional logistical challenges to moving equipment to the near sterilization source.
